I got dreams so wide like a country mile

So, I was reading one of the pieces of Jack/Ianto bodyswap fic in my memories when it suddenly occured to me to wonder - who gets the immortality in this deal? Is it physiological, or does it transfer with Jack's soul? It's got to be pretty harrowing either way. Anyone got any recs for fics exploring that?

Summary: Ianto comes back drunk to the Hub where he has a slightly cross purposes conversation with Jack and decides that what he really wants is not to talk.

Notes: So yeah. Not so much with the comment fic. Just over 3k words. I haven't actually re-read it but I certainly enjoyed writing it, so I figure that's the main thing. Random extra feedback.

It's interesting looking back at your old stuff and realising how you've changed as a writer. I went back and read Can't imagine it unless you've been there today because someone recced it and it got several new comments. It's now actually the most commented on of my TW fic, probably because it's got one of the more interesting/unusual ideas in it. All in all, it holds up well to me re-reading it but I found myself counting unattributed "him"s :) I think a grammar edit might be in order. Overall though, I was surprised to see that I was instinctively doing things at the time that I now do deliberately in terms of technique and style (particularly the way the story references the absence of Tosh & Owen without ever refering to it directly) - I suspect that means that to the reader, my writing looks very similar but now to me as a writer, I think about it and dither about it a lot more :)

Am finally cautiously hopeful that RL will stop eating me for a while! I now have a job sorted out for next academic year, which takes so much of the pressure off! I now just have to pass my final assessment at the end of June and I'll actually be a teacher. My class next year are going to be 10 & 11 so I totally plan to introduce them to DW! Not this account though :D

Have spent half term in Vegas for the annual LJ retreat - this year about half LJ, half DW people as it was zorkian and janinedogs wedding. It was totally awesome and I feel way more optimistic about the future of both services, particularly LJ as I was never particularly worried about DW. I actually think that competition and a little friendly rivalry will be good for both sites. One of LJs problems for a while has been a focus on developing features marketing want rather than ones users want IMO. Now that there's another viable, popular service out there threatening LJs walled garden tie-ins, they'll have to raise their game, which can only be good for both services.

Also there was a hot tub, which I can offically report is the BEST THING EVAR. Sitting around being back rubbed by aveleh, followed by a massage from synecdochic which was so good that I was literally a puddle by the end and had to be poured upstairs to bed was the highlight of my week!

Summary: When Jack comes back from his trip with the Doctor, he takes Ianto out on a date. It sets the tone for a different kind of relationship between them.
Notes: Firstly, thank you to amandr for the beta - as I said to her, I reach a point when I finish a story where I have zero perspective on it. She reassured me that this was neither too emo nor too slushy to post :) I have always found it interesting that when Jack came back, he asked Ianto out on a date. It seems like such an un-Jack like thing to do. So I wanted to explore this. This was going to be a different story with a different title once, but I like how it turned out.

Well, I'm properly moved in now. I spent far to long today fiddling about altering my LJ friends list and my DW list so that I don't (hopefully) end up with cross posts on both lists but I should still have those of you posting different content on each site on both lists. I think. There may have to be a poll in future.

I also updated all my archived fic on LJ with links to comment here and shut down comments totally on the LJ. One day, I'll get the Merlin fic written, I promise :)

Man, I can't believe it's going to be Open Beta tonight! I think I'm going to have to put my bf in charge of getting hold of a Seed account for me tomorrow because I'm going to be in bed for one sale and in class for the second or possibly in the car on the way to look around another potential employer. Of course that all depends on how todays interview goes (omg!).
