Well, as a Jack/Ianto writer, I would say Rusty ranks middle to low in the fandom. I choose to assume that Ianto's "I'm only gay for Jack" speech was a way of winding up his sister. Also, I totally called Jack's daughter from the moment she answered the door to him. Actual adventure story not too bad - not entirely sure about the pacing but we'll see. I like the never share your password moral. On the other hand, there are many easier ways of killing the rest of Torchwood than bombing Jack. Or do we assume the bomb was supposed to take out the Hub, thereby killing Jack? Will they need a new sci-fi headquarters? Will Jack have to move in with Ianto? Tune in next time...

It's a story he's written before; character committed to being X sexuality falling for someone outside of X. (Bob and Rose, in which Bob is a gay man falling for a woman, apparently based on a RL friend of RTD's.)

I'd choose to interpret it as... Ianto'd never even considered being bi before Jack. Never thought about men like that, and is far enough towards the het side of the scale for it not to have crashed into his awareness. And post-Jack, well... who could compare with that?
