I have thought up sparkling and highly effective dialogue for this scene twice now. Once while just falling asleep and once in the shower. Why is it that once in front of the computer keyboard, it proves elusive?

this happens to me all the time.

in the middle of the night as i was re-falling asleep i thought of two new fics. today they're just vague shreds.

Arggg! I guess this is why writers keep pads by the bed :(

With me it's a matter of thinking up a perfect line of dialogue or scene and then blanking on one word in the middle of it--and then obsessing over that one word, because the whole line sounds flat without it.
